End of Year SMARTR Outcome: Reading

By Spring 2018, 90% of students identified at risk by the universal screener in reading (at or below 39th percentile) will make more than 1 year’s progress.

Strategy 1: Use a balance of Guided Reading and specialized reading programs to target individual needs, and employ creative and critical thinking strategies to deepen comprehension.

Strategy 2: Collaboration with Division Level Coach on Collaborative Team best practices and Responsive Instruction (RI) practices.  Provide targeted and early intervention for all students.  Progress monitor specifically identified sub-groups.

Strategy 3: Schoolwide implementation of Responsive Classroom  

End of Year SMARTR Outcome: Math

By Spring 2018, 90% of students identified at risk by the universal screener in math (at or below 39th percentile) will pass a grade level common assessment, specialized program assessment, or an end of the year assessment (MRA or SOL).

Strategy 1: Use a balance of math workshop, flexible grouping, specialized programs, technology (ex. DreamBox), and problem-solving/critical thinking strategies to deepen math understanding and application

Strategy 2: Collaboration with Division Level Coach on Collaborative Team best practices and Responsive Instruction (RI) practices.  Provide targeted and early intervention for all students.  Progress monitor specifically identified sub-groups.

Strategy 3: Schoolwide implementation of Responsive Classroom  

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

100% of Terra Centre students in grades K-6 will participate in at least 2 project-based learning opportunities that incorporate grade level curriculum in an innovative way by the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
